Technology

In the world of FFC, technology plays nearly as important a role as magic does, since the setting is in a semi-futuristic world, and more people have technology than not. Here will be listed some of the items that are used by characters in FFC, explain what they do, how they work, and how they're used. Items are in order of appearance.

Katyn's Brace

One of the items that Katyn frequently uses in her daily life (in other words, when stealing things) is a brace she wears around her arm. To be more specific, around each arm. The function of this brace is not really for protection. It was built by her friend Liss, and functions as something of a grappling hook. A hook shooting out to allow Katyn to swing to saftely when she needs too. The braces on both arms have this built in (in case one is damaged or otherwise can't be used. Sometimes it's a necessity to have)

Later, after damaging the brace on her right arm, Katyn brought it to Liss to get it fixed. Liss took advantage of this to improve the original design. One of the new features is what appears to be some kind of energy blade. How it really works is a series a wires come out of it in the shape of the "blade". Different energies are then run through the wires, creating the effect. While not particularly deadly, or even all that damaging, it will burn what it touches, and can be a good surprise to enemies who don't realize that it's there.

Skimmers

Skimmers are a very popular mode of transportation in FFC. Though generally they are expensive to build and maintain, so not many people in the world have them, the thieves, with Liss at their side (she's very useful for technology) can keep them.

Skimmers run on massive jets of air which allow the craft to hover and "skim" the surface. They are faster than any vehicles with wheels because surfaces do not affect them as much, and the ride is much smoother.

The display panel on most skimmers is also a bit different from more cars and other modes of transportation. Something akin to a computer screen shows the driver all the information they need, as well as maps of where the vehicle is, so the driver can find his/her way around more easily. As far as driving etiquette goes, skimmers are supposed to be treated as motorcycles do, and use the roads as such, but since they are so light and swift, drivers tend to take them off road a bit mroe often than is legal.

Liss' Spikes

An as yet unnamed invention created by Liss. They appear to be small metal spikes, about the length of a person's finger. When thrown at a electronic device, the tip penetrates into the circuitry, and once there is able to short out any electrical system that gets in the way. At the moment, more useful against smaller objects. They could not, for example, short out the security system of a building, since they are not powerful enough to take down the entire system at once. No experiments have been made regarding the effect they would have if they were to strike a person.

Order's Visors

The Order, a technologically-inclined group chasing after Katyn, has a few toys of their own. One of the most interesting of which are the strange visors that they wear. This eyeware does more than sheild their eyes. Displayed before the wearer's eyes is a variety of information that helps with targeting and seeing in less than perfect conditions. They also help the members of the Order to communicate with one another.

Spiderman's Costume

The Marvel-esque costume of Marian Andrews, one of the thieves, which earned her the nickname of "Spiderman" is technological feat of its own. Also a creation of Liss', it's most distinguishing feature is to release tiny barbed hooks out of the costume (mainly from fingers and feet, though elsewhere as well) which allow her to cling to surfaces much like Spiderman can. The costume also enhances her strength a little, making it easier to hang on upside-down, and from there, she uses her natural agility to do the rest.
